Shiatsu
What is Shiatsu and what can it do for you?
Shiatsu works on pressure points all around the body, stimulating
the body's natural energy pathways (meridians). It has been likened
to Acupuncture, but instead of needles. Fingers, thumbs, elbows, knees
and feet are used to apply pressure to the meridians. Gentle stretches
are also used to restore the body's natural flow of energy.
Digestive disorders, menstrual problems, joint stiffness, muscle tension,
headaches/migraines, asthma, depression/anxiety, and many other imbalances,
can be alleviated with the help of Shiatsu.
What does a Shiatsu treatment involve?
Sessions normally last about an hour, beginning with a short consultation.
The
treatment usually takes place on a futon roll which is laid out on
the floor.
The only items of clothing that need to be removed are shoes (and
occasionally jewellery)
Shorter half hour sessions concentrate on relieving tension by focusing
on the head, neck, shoulders and back. This takes place in a very
comfortable massage chair, which has been specially designed to allow
excellent access to these areas.
